The intimacy of absence.

In Bibiana Anguio's works what is shown is painting in all its capacity to fix and take out of time, to make of appearance something else that is shown in a different space, that only belongs to her. The character of that space is what truly determines the nature of the painting and reveals it to us. In it, Bibiana manages to make every moment a revelation, thanks to the power of the image. The scene in the painting is the medium that hid something inside it that is now shown.

What her characters and the world around them lose in the heart of the work is their contingency and, in exchange for it, they find their eternity. That is why, in Bibiana, the familiar and the eternal, the everyday and the landscape seem to be born from the same source. Everything takes place in a time and a history, in a history that contemplates itself. Her material reality converted into painting, into spiritual expression, gives us the possibility of a space in which all contradictions disappear and the elements that make up the world of representation are no longer in front of each other. Isolated, independent and mute, surrounded by the aura of their impenetrable solitude, to become part of a total world, which is not the image but what the image raises.

In that world the particular density of each object becomes transparent and transparency allows them to recover their density.

Time ceases to exist and everything appears stopped in the instant of the revelation. To look for the reality of that instant, to make it appear, is for Bibiana, to look for the reality of colour and painting.
